I'm Not Feeling Special Today... How About You?

...And I am not feeling like I have much of anything pithy to say.

So I skipped a post last week (after making a commitment to myself to get back into the habit of posting once a week.)

Then, today I got an email from a reader who thanked me for my last blog post: "Quit Trying to Be an Apple if You're Really a Pomegranate."  She said she was glad she read that blog post BEFORE she carried out the thought that quitting her job would be a fine thing to do.  She confessed she needed to make some changes, but that it was not in her best interest to handle it by chucking her job out the window.

And this reminded me of something I knew, but seem to often forget.  And that is this:

You don't have to be brilliant every single minute.
You don't have to be your best at every little thing you do.
You don't have to be happy all the time.
And you don't have to feel pretty every day.

So what can you do when you are having one of those days?  It's simple.

Show Up Anyway
and
Just Be Your Average That Day.

Showing up says to someone: "I care." It doesn't much matter whether you are showing up for your job, or to make dinner for your spouse, or to take your kid to the umpteenth practice this week.  The message is the same.

And you don't have to be 110% all the time to do a good job or to be good person. That's what busy work, carry-out, and car pools are for.

Take time to be calm. Take time to be kind.  Allow yourself to think what you're thinking and feel what you're feeling.  And know that not every thought or feeling requires you to act right now.

That's all.  Nothing brilliant.  Not my best.  But worthy none-the-less...  If you care to leave a comment; I would welcome that. But I'll read it another day.  Right now I'm turning my computer off, and the cat and I are curling up for a nap.

Take Care,
